The hour that World War I ended by armistice marks when we now remember all veterans. We used to wear poppies in our lapels to mark the day. The poppies were reminders of the huge loss of blood in the poppies on Flanders Field during that Great War, a poignant symbol.
We would be wise not to forget to whom we owe our freedom. It was the soldiers who bore arms and sometimes made the ultimate sacrifice who assured our freedom. Our debt can not be measured. All we can do is remember, learn and offer a prayer of gratitude. for those who have served, and who do serve, in defense of our liberty and our very lives.
And when the guns again fall silent, let us not forget.

Let's not forget, John, and hopefully we'll learn how to take better care of them!
