A Poppy in the Barbed Wire

I went down to The Old Coast Road this morning. There's a thrill for you. It's a stretch of cow trail that was what passed for a highway before Route 1 was built just north of the Big Sur valley. There are many ranches up in those hills, most of which are fenced in with barbed wire. And there in the dirt under one of those fences was this solitary poppy.
