William Randolph Hearst, the newspaper tycoon and role model for Citizen Kane, was not known for doing anything modestly as anyone who has been to Hearst Castle (aka Xanadu) can testify to.This is but one wing of the ranch house on the Milpitas rancho in the San Antonio Valley where he ran cattle. It is located at Fort Hunter Liggett. Hearst eventually donated the land to the government and it became a military installation. This wing now serves as the post commander's residence. (War is hell.)
