Bates Motel? The Carson Mansion, Eureka, California

Norman!!!!!

Nah, it's the Carson Mansion in Eureka, California built by the lumber baron William Carson in the late 1800s. It is an enormous and imposing home that sits on a hill overlooking the town and the harbor. The mansion is now a private club. It does have a slightly sinister feel about it.

I deliberately (really!) metered on the threatening early morning sky to put the house in silhouette.

Wow, what a really cool place, nice shots, I like the mood in the first one, dark and dreary for such a lovely place!

What a grand old place. You have shown different faces of the building. It looks like a restuarant.. maybe. I would love to have a tower like that with and great view.

Ok, for you Buster! Your friends are now coming to my blog, so you are ON my list now too. Trouble is I don't have any friends, so can't return the favour. :))

cheers
Maggie

I have put that Wingnut on my bookmarks. She is ONE busy lady.

I like all the different views of the place. You couldn't share all of these at once over at aminus3. It is a fabulous home/club. Can you imagine what it looks like on the inside??

What a find! It does look rather spooky in the first picture. However, you give in redemption in your other pictures. I really like the detailed woodwork. Great find!
