A local artist makes these billboard type artworks that stand in the field next to Highway 68 in Salinas. These likenesses of immigrant labor appear to be delighted in what they are doing. When I drive by in times of harvest and see the real folks engaged in this backbreaking stoop labor, they do not look so happy to me. It's hard work!

Interesting MJ. I find that many things are over-commercialised or conveyed in a less than actual way.

It is hard work!! We had huge gardens growing up, and I don't recall smiling like that during planting, weeding, thinning, weeding, weeding, weeding, harvesting....
